When most people think of pest control, they imagine a technician with a spray canister. Ecoshield's approach is fundamentally different. The monitoring technology deployed across our client facilities represents a commitment to pest biology, data precision, and environmental responsibility that conventional pest control simply does not offer.
CO2 and UV Light Traps
CO2 traps work by mimicking the breath of a warm-blooded host, attracting mosquitoes and other biting insects to a capture chamber without any chemical lure. UV light traps use specific wavelengths to attract flying insects, including flies and moths, into an electrocution grid or adhesive board.
In food processing and hospitality environments, these traps serve a dual purpose: active pest control and passive monitoring. The species and numbers of insects captured in each trap over each service period provide a detailed picture of pest pressure trends, seasonal fluctuations, and any areas of emerging concern.
Pheromone Monitors
Pheromone-based monitoring uses synthetic versions of the chemical signals that insects produce to communicate with each other. Species-specific pheromone lures attract target insects to monitoring traps without affecting non-target species. This precision is particularly important in food environments where broad-spectrum attractants could create new pest pathways.
- Moth pheromone traps for detecting stored product pest activity in warehouses
- Cockroach aggregation pheromone traps for early detection in kitchen and service areas
- Species-specific lures rotated on a 4 to 6 week schedule to maintain efficacy
Raptor-Safe Rodent Stations
Conventional rodent bait stations use second-generation anticoagulants that accumulate in the body of any animal that consumes a poisoned rodent. Owls, eagles, and other raptors that are essential to Ghana's natural pest control ecosystem are particularly vulnerable to this secondary poisoning.
Ecoshield uses only raptor-safe bait formulations in all external rodent stations. These products are effective against the target rodent population while carrying negligible risk to non-target wildlife. All stations are tamper-resistant, GPS-logged, and serviced on a documented schedule.
Real-Time Data, Live Reporting
Every monitoring device across every Ecoshield client site feeds into a live reporting system accessible to the client at any time. Trap catches, servicing notes, and corrective actions are logged in real time, providing the audit-ready documentation that modern food safety and hospitality standards demand.
