In Ghana, pest control is a regulated industry. Any company applying pesticides commercially is required by law to hold a valid licence issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Despite this requirement, unlicensed pest control operations remain common, particularly in smaller residential and commercial markets. The consequences of engaging an unlicensed provider can range from regulatory penalties to genuine health and safety risks.

EPA licensing Ghana

What EPA Licensing Means

EPA licensing for pest control companies in Ghana requires demonstration of technical competence, proper storage and handling of registered chemical products, adherence to application guidelines and safety standards, and maintenance of records for all chemical products used. A licensed company is accountable to the regulator. An unlicensed one is accountable to no one.

FDA Alignment and the Ghana Public Health Act

For food businesses, the regulatory picture is more complex. Standard pest control operations must also be recognised by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and align with the Ghana Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851). This legislation governs public health pest control activities and sets minimum standards for chemical selection, application, and documentation in food-adjacent environments.

Ecoshield is fully incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Ghana, licensed by the EPA, and operates in alignment with FDA requirements and Act 851. Every service contract includes documentation confirming this regulatory status, which clients can present during inspections or audits.

How to Verify Your Current Provider

"If a pest control provider cannot immediately provide their EPA licence number and a list of registered products they use, that is all the information you need."

The Ecoshield Commitment

Ecoshield will never apply a product that is not registered with the EPA, never sub-contract work to unlicensed technicians, and never provide a service report that does not accurately reflect the work carried out. These are not aspirational commitments; they are operational standards enforced across every contract and every service visit.
